Scotch
Scotch is a type of whisky produced exclusively in Scotland. To be called Scotch, it must be distilled and aged for at least three years in Scotland in oak barrels and bottled at a minimum of 40% ABV. Scotch gets its smokey flavor from burning peat… a type of fuel made from decomposed plant matter, to dry the malted barley. Different regions are known for different levels of peat with Islay being the most peat forward.
